Katie and Paul created a day that was SO unique to them at The Barn at Morleys Hall in Astley.
From an intimate wedding ceremony and private dining style wedding breakfast, to a full on party and evening food trucks to celebrate, they really did things their way!
They swerved the traditional wedding speeches and took the pressure off too!
Their wedding at The Barn at Morleys Hall near Manchester started off so chilled and relaxed, it really made for a fun contrast when the ‘sing offs’ started in the evening.
If you love the idea of being inspired by a couple who wanted to break from the traditional wedding schedule, then this is the video for you…

A Summer Wedding Morning (With Actual Sun!)
In a rare turn of events, Katie and Paul’s August wedding date happned to actually be sunny!
With all the windows open and hand fans at the ready, the girls started getting ready at the Marriott Country Club in Worsley, just down the road from the venue.
Eve Mulligan and Grace Moore were there doing their hair and make-up. Katie opted for a beautiful bridal plait with a hair vine to add some sparkle.
The room was bustling with excitment as everyone had their finishing touches done before packing up and getting ready to leave for the wedding venue, The Barn at Morleys Hall.
A Traditional Barn Wedding Venue in Manchester
The Barn at Morleys Hall is an impressive traditonal barn wedding venue near Tyldesley, Manchester.
A former agricultural building built around the 1850’s, this huge space wouldn’t be an obvious choice for an initmate wedding.
But, the venue really help make it feel cosy within the open plan setting. The dark wood and fairy lights really add to it too.
The couple make use of the mezzanine area later on but for the morning, the girls used it to get ready and keep out of the way as guests began to arrive.
An Intimate Barn at Morleys Hall Wedding Ceremony
Then it was time to get our cameras in position for their intimate wedding ceremony in the barn.
Paul waited nervously with his Groomsmen in their matching light brown tweed three-piece suits.
Katie was then walked down the aisle by her Dad and Grandad with most of their guests wiping tears away!
But they were soon laughing as her Grandad managed to stand on her wedding dress.
Twice…
A Chilled Drinks Reception and Wedding Meal…
Guests enjoyed a few drinks in the sunshine whilst the barn mezzanine was set up for the intimate wedding breakfast.
Instead of a room full of round tables, they opted for one long baquet table and mingling over formal speeches.
Alex Birtwell performed a chilled acousitc set for them as they enjoyed their 3 course meal created by their good friend Paul.
Filming The Special Wedding Gifts…
With the couple deciding not to follow tradition with wedding speeches, they knew they still wanted to share their gratitude and thanks with Katies Parents and Grandparents.
Without making a fuss, myself and their photographer Simon (Creative Camera) they snuck them in to the upstairs bar and I captured some lovely moments (and tears) of them alltogether.
Starting The Evening With A Bang…
After being able to share the first few hours of married life with their closest friends and family it was then time to welcome the rest of the wedding guests.
Once the barn was full, the couple were announced down the barn steps to cheers for the new Mr and Mrs!
They then got to enjoy catching up and sharing their stories of the day so far wit their new wedding guests!
Bubbles Instead Of Confetti…
Another change to traditons was them choosing guests blowing bubbles over throwing confetti!
Being a Mum of a toddler, we LOVE bubbles here and I knew with enough willing guests it would look great!
I filmed the couple having a great time dancing through the aisle of bubbles and the guests had fun trying to out do each other as they went past!
Bubbles Instead Of Confetti…
A wedding buffet isn’t for everyone and it turns out, our Bride and Groom had better ideas!
For their evening food they opted for two food trucks to rock up outside The Barn at Morleys Hall.
One was ‘Pickup a Pizza’ who do the most amazing cheesy garlic bread.
The other was ‘The Fish Bay’ for take away fish and chips!
I really don’t blame the guests who just HAD to try both (I did too! haha)
Time To Party (Thanks To Alex Birtwell!)
If you’re hiring Alex Birtwell for your evening then you know your dancefloor will be full all night!
To start the evening off, Katie had a dance with her Dad and was also joined by her Mum part way through.
It was then time for Katie and Paul to enjoy a first dance as a married couple before their singer Alex started a ‘sing off’ for them.
I’m pretty sure Katie and her Bridesmaids won that as they were SO loud singing along to Elbow haha.
