Here’s a gorgeous winter wedding to bring all those cosy and romantic vibes.
Emily and Aaron chose the stunning Styal Lodge over in Wilmslow for their wedding day.
A family run, modern style wedding venue in Cheshire that have the most wonderful team to look after you on your wedding day.
Here’s a little taste of their wedding day as a ‘Highlights’ video…

A Wedding Morning With Family and Friends…
Emily is one of SEVEN and I arrived to a flurry of excitement at the purpose built Bridal room as all the siblings were enjoying the excitement of the wedding morning.
Her enquiry also started with “The best part of the night out is getting ready…’ so I knew the morning prep would be important to film for them!
Hair and Make-up had started and everyone was enjoying watching the ceremony and reception spaces coming together in-between having their curls set and make-up slots!
Over at Aaron’s house the guys enjoyed breakfast whilst keeping an eye on the to-do list on the portable white board (very organised!).
As always it started nice and relaxed and then suddenly it was time for everyone to get in to their dresses as guests began to arrive at Styal Lodge.
Deep Breaths and Emotional First Looks
A few deep breaths and it was time for our Bride to show off how incredible she looked before walking down the aisle.
Their photographer, Jonny Draper, organised her Mum and Bridesmaids so they could do a dramatic reveal (and their reactions were amazing).
Then it was time for Dad….possibly the best ‘first look’ Father of the Bride reaction I’ve had all year!
A Romantic Winter Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony space inside Styal Lodge looked like the perfect winter wonderland.
They kept it simple with twinkly lighting, embracing the epic Christmas tree and having Jill at J N Flowers on hand to create the most beautiful flower displays.
I loved how they used the floral arch from the ceremony in the reception space behind the top table too!
Winter Weddings and That Beautiful Winter Light at Styal Lodge…
I hear a few photographers and videographers dislike Styal Lodge, complaining of the light.
But we LOVE it.
I love the warmth the natural wood gives off as well as all the natural light flooding in through the windows.
Perfect for a cosy winter wedding!
Be mindful of that when choosing your wedding suppliers. The days may be shorter and some people offer ‘deals’ but it’s actually pretty challenging shooting in low light!
Anyway, back to their amazingly romantic winter wedding ceremony at Styal Lodge…
Two Angles Are Better Than One For Videography
I can’t rave about having two videographers for your wedding day enough.
Not only does it give you the obvious two angles on all the key parts of your wedding day, but it means we can capture even more!
From having you both filmed whilst getting ready, to having one of us capture details and guests (the bits you may not see). Whilst the other captures you both enjoying the day (the bits you do see, but sometimes forget).
Seeing your walk down the aisle, your kiss and the fun of the wedding confetti may be just a few of my favourite moments to capture from two angles as a videographer…
Natural Wedding Videography To Capture The ‘Best Bits’…
Emily and Aaron were keen to capture as much as possible after putting so much thought in to the day itself.
I’m all about capturing as much as possible, even if you think you only want the ‘Best Bits’.
Just in case that after you’ve enjoyed your wedding day, you realise you wished you could see even more.
Well you can, because I filmed it. Just in case 😀
Mingling, Dancing and The Wedding Speeches
In true Emily and Aaron style, the reception part of their wedding was planned to perfection too!
A lot of people worry about rain on their wedding day but Styal Lodge had that covered by moving the drinks reception inside the cosy lodge instead.
Their wedding guests were treated to a nibbles table (with buffet style nibbles and even festive mince pies) and music from Mike Smith on Saxaphone (who the little ones were fascinated by!).
Once the formal photos had taken place under the eaves of Styal Lodge, guests were invited to take their seats ready for the wedding breakfast.
But before Pink Pepper Catering could dish up, the main wedding party wanted to arrive in style.
Cue choreographed dance moves and a fun entrance from the Bridesmaids (though I think the MC didn’t get the memo on how well practiced that routine had been and he jumped in too early!!!).
I filmed a cheeky kiss under the mistletoe for the new Mr and Mrs before they danced in to the room as Husband and Wife…
An Evening Of Fun and Dancing…
The speeches had everyone laughing and crying…and laughing until they were crying.
It even included a slideshow from her Sister (who was essentially tricked in to believing she needed to do a Speech but fully embraced it and may of even done the best speech that day!).
As it got dark outside, the fairylights created a really cosy winter atmosphere inside Styal Lodge.
It didn’t stop anyone sneaking outside for some fun photobooth photos in the Birdie Camervan!
Time For The Partying!
I captured a few moments of Jonny Draper setting up some posed evening portraits before ushering a few guests outside for a sparkler photo.
It was then time for Emily to sneak off and change in to her second wedding dress (both dresses were from Pretty White Dress).
A stunningly simple silk slip style dress that looked incredible on her.
Aaron waited under the infamous giant disco ball as she was announced in to the room to audible gasps!
They danced all 5 seconds (don’t worry, we were prewarned) of their first dance to Don’t Look Back In Anger by Oasis before inviting their guests to join them.
And so we filmed a room full of song, hugs and swaying as everyone joined in. Exactly as they’d hoped!
Thank You For Choosing Me As Your Wedding Videographer!
I’m sure you can tell from the film and this blog that I had as much fun filming this as they did at their wedding!
I think the effort of chatting before the wedding and getting to know everyone, on top of arriving 2-3 hours before the ceremony, means everyone relaxes in to being their SO quickly.
And filming people who feel happy to have you around, despite the camera, makes it fun to capture moments that no-one even realise are being filmed.
Those natural moments we all love!
Thank you Emily and Aaron for choosing me to capture your wedding at Styal Lodge, it really was an absolute please!
