Cheshire seems to be home to some of the fanciest wedding venues in the North West.
We were spoilt for the wedding of Hannah and Alex as we got to head back to the stunning St Werburgh’s Church in Chester City Centre, before heading out in to the countryside for their reception at Pryors Hayes Golf Club.
This wedding is all about fun, friendships and filming in one of the hotest days of year…that was fun in itself!

Sunshine On Your Wedding Day…
Everyone wishes for sunshine on their wedding day. It seems the Catholic symbol they all joked about in the morning really did bring the weather. Or maybe it was just ‘the weather’, that was Alex’s theory.
Hannah and Alex picked epic venues to get ready at in the city of Chester. Buildings full of history but also that beautiful, natural light that all professional videographers (and photographers) love!
I arrived to lots of laughter and some happy tears when a surprise bouquet turned up. I even found myself helping clean a Bridesmaids glasses with my lens cleaner.
Painted by Leah was there making everyone’s make up ‘heat wave’ ready and Carol Ellis was perfecting their hair.
Getting Wedding Ready With Friends…
As relaxed and organised as the morning began, it was soon time to get everyone dressed.
The Bridesmaids looked stunning in their pale sage green, full length gowns. As did the Groomsmen in navy suits!
I loved watching Hannah’s Mum getting her ready. Being a Mum to a Daughter myself, I could really feel what she felt getting Hannah ready for her wedding day.
She got a little choked up and shared how proud she was before we headed downstairs for the big reveal for her Dad and Bridesmaids.
Getting To St Werburgh’s Church On Time!
It’s always tricky to get to the church on time when you’re navigating busy Chester City streets.
But it is fun seeing the wedding car and vintage VW camper van bring lots of smiles and everyone having fun waving back!
St Werburgh’s Church Ceremony in Chester
The girls enjoyed a dance outside before getting ready to make the long walk down the aisle at St Werburgh’s Church in Chester.
The beautiful Grade II listed Catholic Church has the sunshine streaming through the windows as the couple finally got to say their vows.
A Traditional Catholic Ceremony
Guests were treated to a traditional Catholic service with a hint of bewildering humour from the priest.
Hannah’s Mum’s choir also sang a few beautiufl songs, as well as having a traditional String Quartet play.
They exchanged their wedding rings and then it was time to dance back down the aisle as Husband and Wife!
Filming The Fun Of The Confetti!
Having two of us filming your wedding is great for SO many reasons.
For me, it also means less stress when there’s not much time to breathe on a wedding day!
My camera assitant/second shooter kindly collects up all the camera kit whilst I follow the couple and ensure I capturing the fun of the confetti shot.
As well as fun moments with the guests as they grab handfuls of confetti to throw at the couple!
Natural Wedding Videography At Pryors Hayes Golf Club
It was all about capturing Hannah and Alex’s wedding day in a relaxed way so they had those natural moments to watch back on their wedding video.
When we arrived at Pryors Hayes in the blistering summer sun, guests were welcomed in to the gardens ahead of the couple.
As well as the usual welcome drinks, they were treated to music by The Mac Bros and some fun garden games.
Sunshine, Smiles and Filming Candid Moments
As tricky as it can be to film in bright sunshine, it does seem to bring out all the smiles in the wedding guests.
As everyone mingled we got to capture some candid moments of people catching up, chatting and enjoying a beautiful wedding reception.
Their Brother had made a fantastic wooden limbo set and it was brilliant capturing everyone enjoying that too.
Their talented wedding photographer Andy Griffiths Photography then took over to capture the all important group shots before we snuck out for some couple time…
Time For The Main Events. Speeches and Dancing!
I don’t know about you but I LOVE a good wedding speech.
Having filmed weddings since 2010, I’ve had the pleasure to hear many speeches and the personal ones are always the best.
The couples were welcomed in to Pryors Hayes oak beamed room to deafening applause before being seated for their meal and finally the speeches.
There were lots of jokes, personal stories and ‘how they met’. It had lots of people laughing AND crying along.
Hannah then took Alex outside to see the surprise of the evening, an amazing Sax player called Alistair Grant.
After a bit more fun in the sun at Pryors Hayes, it was time for DJ Karlton to get the party started!!
