I feel very fortunate as a wedding videographer filming weddings that I have SO many amazing weddings to look forward to each year.
One in particular was Melissa and Neil’s wedding at The Hillbark Hotel and Spa over in the Wirral and there were a few amazing reasons.
Firstly, they’re just so blooming nice! Thanks to pandemic related postponements we enjoyed lots of chatting on Instagram in the run up to the big day.
Secondly, they were getting married at the Wirral wedding venue that we chose to marry in 12 years ago (you can see our wedding video on my About Me page)!
After a few postponements it randomly fell on the weekend of my 12th wedding anniversary so it felt extra special.
So carry on reading if you fancy hearing more about this beautiful Hillbark Hotel wedding.
There’s happy tears, incredible friendships, an up and coming magician (Neil’s Son) and you’ll get to see why both myself and this couple fell for the Hillbark Hotel as a wedding venue too…
Hillbark Hotel Wedding Video
A Relaxed Wedding Morning in the Wirral
I arrived at Melissa’s house to a room for of very chilled bridesmaids and getting filled in on all the wedding morning chatter.
For my relaxed style of wedding videography I love arriving a little earlier. Not only to capture the bridal prep bits but I know it helps everyone welcome me in to the group, feel relaxed around the camera and allow me to capture those natural moments that I know everyone will love!
In true Neil style (I’m told), my assistant Paul arrived to them just rolling out of bed so the guys side of the morning was definitely keeping it chilled and relaxed…
Filming Wedding Gifts and Surprises
Filming the morning I encourage gift giving to be saved until we get there as its always a lovely (and emotional) part to capture for everyone.
Melissa went one step futher and had everyone in tears with her wedding surprise. She created a slideshow to show off how much her family and friends meant to her and it got to every single one of them (me included!).
She also surprised Neil, his Son and his Best Man with an Aston Martin to take them over to the Hillbark ready for the ceremony…
Hillbark Hotel Wedding Ceremony
As soon as I arrived back at the Hillbark Hotel all the memories from my own wedding came rushing back which was amazing. I think that helped me think about moments that Melissa and Neil would find special watching back too.
One of my favourite mometns as a Bride is walking across the balcony and you can see the excited nerves bubble up as Melissa made the same journey to her own wedding ceremony,
A Fairytale Wedding Setting
The Hillbark Hotel is now the only 5* country house hotel in the North West and makes the perfect fairytale setting for any Wirral wedding.
The stunning Great Hall and huge windows allow the most beautiful natural light to spill in that it’s a joy to film as a wedding videographer as much as it is for a couple to celebrate their big day!
Two cameras captured Melissa’s walk down the aisle to her soon to be husband, Neil. A violinist played during the service which relly added to the romance of it all.
Don’t worry, security was tight at this wedding to ensure the rings were kept safe in the form of Neil’s Son. He did a great job and soon Melissa and Neil were being announced as Husband and Wife!
Candid Moments In The Gardens
Guests were ushered out for the big confetti shot outside the main entrance at the Hillbark Hotel before enjoying the sunshine and canapes in the gardens.
Their wedding photographer’s (David Paul Photography) arranged some of the more formal family portraits around the outdoor pagoda.
I like to film the inbetween bits here as they’re always fun watching everyone trying to get in order to pose. But I also love documenting all the guests in a candid way enjoying the wedding.
It’s these parts of the day that as a couple you’re focussed on ‘wedding formalities’ and miss seeing everyone so with your Love Gets Sqeeter wedding video you get to see bits you actually missed on the day too!
Little Bit Of Wedding Magic
The star of the afternoon was Ring Security/ Neil’s Son who was encouraged to show off his magic skills to the adoring crowd.
Not only did he wow guests but he collected lots of tips for his efforts too!
Wedding Reception at The Hillbark Hotel
The Hillbark team had turned the ceremony hall in to a beautiful wedding reception space ready for the guests to be seated.
Melissa and Neil were then announced in to the room to the LOUDEST appluase before taking their own seats at the top table.
The sun was streaming in through the great hall window just in time for the wedding speeches which went down a storm.
Evening Entertainment at Hillbark Hotel
The sun was still shining so lots of guests opted to chill outside after their wedding breakfast.
They were spoilt for choice with things to keep them entertained during the evening too.
From casino tables to a ‘selfie mirror’ style photobooth, to hiring Madison as their wedding band to get the party started. The focus really was on ensuring eveyrone had the BEST time.
The guys from Madison even performed their first dance song for them to make it extra special…
