Looking for a relaxed DIY wedding at a local church and village hall? This lovely wedding was all about family and relaxed wedding vibes for Joanna and Kevin’s big day in Lancashire.
I don’t know what you’ll love seeing more watching this village hall wedding video…? That incredible bridal cape, the fresh flowers in her relaxed bridal braid, the ice cream van instead of canapes or their son Zack stealing the show…

All About Family…
As chaotic and mess as it may feel when everyone’s trying to get ready, there’s something extra special about getting ready at home.
Whether that’s your home or your parents, it’s full of little details that tell the story of your family life.
From childhood photos, to cute trinkets and those wise phrases on plaques, they all help remind you of what your home felt like.
For your wedding video, it then adds an extra layer to help make it special.
It’ll be exciting thinking about watching your wedding day back in years to come but the little home details make it a true part of your family history.
Capes, Flower Crowns and Dickie Bows
The morning was filled with an excited buzz at Joanna’s parents as everyone had their hair and make-up done with the sunshine streaming through the windows.
Joanna opted for a really relaxed braid and then added fresh flowers for a really beautiful look.
Her sister’s got to show off their own style too, with one opting for the most incredible flower crown created by Rhapsody Florist. My daughter Paisley will be jealous!
My favourite moments came from their Dad, fully embracing the life of a Dad with girls!
Over at Kevin’s home Paul got to capture a nice and relaxed morning with their son Zack and the Best Man.
When there are little people around to capture too, it’s always nice to give them time to get used to a new face (and a new camera).
It means we’re more likely to get those natural moments where they really show off their personality!

A Relaxed Methodist Wedding Ceremony
It was then time for their wedding ceremony at Midge Hall Methodist Church in Leyland.
In honour of Kevin being a huge Liverpool FC fan, Joanna walked down the aisle to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.
Poor Zack was a little tired by this point so got to enjoy playing outside a little more than watching his parents get married.
Kevin’s face when he saw Joanna for the first time…it’s why I LOVE having two of us film the day, to ensure I can capture this look for you!
They said their vows and got to enjoy a wonderful blessing from the Midge Hall Church priest before exchanging wedding rings.
The newlyweds were soon grinning all the way back down the aisle!
It was then time for a few quick group shots and their photographer, Alana Bot, was great at getting through them quickly so everyone could then head over to the reception…

A Mawdesley Village Hall Wedding Reception
Only a Village Hall wedding can give true relaxed vibes on a wedding day.
Guests arrived at Mawdesley Village Hall to not only welcome drinks but also an actual Ice Cream Van to enjoy in the sunshine.
Their wedding coordinator, Alicia Marie Weddings, was ready with the couples drinks.
The weather was glorious as the couple arrived at the reception with the roof down on their wedding car.
Guests enjoyed a bit more mingling in the sunshine and her Dad got to tuck in to his leftover sandwiches as we snuck off to the village green for some couple moments in the shade.
It’s a great time for us to get some nice shots of you together but, it’s also a great time for you both to take a breather too!

Relaxed and Natural Videography in Lancashire
I’ve filmed wedding since 2010 and it’s still one of my top tips to make time to be whisked off for couples photos with their photographer and myself.
It’s not only a great opportunity to get a few nice shots of the two of you for the video (and your photos), it’s also a great time to press pause on a busy day!
After a whirlwind of a day so far, you’ll be thankful for the break together (whilst I film away!).
A Mawdesley Village Hall Reception
Guests were invited to be seated in the main hall at Mawdesley Village Hall.
The happy couple then got welcomed in to the room to a loud applause before being treated to two speeches. The Father of the Bride and the Best Man.
They shared some funny personal stories of them growing up to get everyone laughing and as well as a few wedding toasts.
It was then on to a wonderful wedding buffet served by the team at Mawdesley Village Hall.
Guests enjoyed the last of the Lancashire sunshine before it was time to hit the dancefloor.
Joanna and Kevin made sure everyone remained dancing by hiring The Funtime Frankies band for their wedding too.
Thanks to delays in the Liverpool FC Champions League match it meant Kevin got to have some fun with the family on the dancefloor.
The perfect ending to capture before we said our goodbyes…
