A Small Liverpool City Wedding
Nat and Ben were my WINNERS of the 10 years as a wedding videographer anniversary celebrations.
Like many weddings in the UK, Nat and Ben’s wedding plans were affected by the Covid pandemic. However, after lots of pre-wedding chats they decided to tweak their wedding plans to enjoy a small and intimate wedding in Liverpool City Centre.
I know I’m a wedding videographer based over in West Lancashire but Liverpool really does have my heart. It’s my favourite city in the world!

A Relaxed Wedding Morning in Liverpool
A short train ride from Ormskirk and I arrived at Moorfields to the clouds parting and the sun peeking through in the city of Liverpool.
Possibly the shortest ‘commute’ to a wedding venue .I simply crossed the road from Moorfields to arrive at The Corinthian (Doubletree Hilton Liverpool) where the wedding preparations were underway!
Nat was thoroughly enjoying the stunning setting of the Presidential Suite as she enjoyed getting her hair and make-up professionally done.
Secret Wedding Gifts For The Video…
Filming solo for this wedding meant I was mainly focusing on the Bride but it was great that we got to capture a secret little gift giving with the Groom too.
They decided to not see each other on the morning of the wedding but wanted to exchange gifts so they could explain what they were and have a chat, even facing away from each other.

St Georges Hall Wedding Ceremony
One Nat was in her gorgeous vintage inspired wedding outfit with all the epic fridging detail (and OMG those sleeves!), we made our way over to St George’s Hall.
With all the crazy roadworks around Liverpool I opted to walk, despite the heat, so I could ensure I arrived to set up for the ceremony before the Bride!
Guests were eagerly awaiting to be seated in the Grand Jury Room inside St George’s Hall.

This is such a traditional and historic setting, I can see why the Grand Jury Room is so popular for weddings in Liverpool.
I set up one camera tucked away beside a wood paneled wall to capture the full room then snuck back out to capture guests arriving to find their seat, ready for their intimate ceremony.
Due to Covid restrictions numbers were still limited for their civil ceremony at St George’s Hall but it still felt warm and cosy for their small (but perfectly formed) wedding ceremony.
Handfasting and Confetti!
To make their ceremony a little more personal they added in a handfasting tradition. An ancient ritual that symbolises two lives being bound together.
Guests cheered and they were soon leaving, huge smiles on their faces, as husband and wife!
Guests made their way outside of St George’s Hall ready to shower the newlyweds with confetti.
As a wedding videographer, filming confetti is one of my favourite things! Guests REALLY go for it and I get to capture some fun faces for the final wedding film!
Then it was time for their talented wedding photographers, Willo Photography, to get them set up for their formal group shots.
Filming at Peace Doves, Liverpool
The couple had been super organised and booked us all tickets to see the stunning art installation inside Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, Peace Doves.
I’d seem images and video online of this beautiful work by internationally-renowned sculptor and artist Peter Walker but it was even more breathtaking in real life.
Pop a gorgeous newlywed couple underneath and…wow.
Taking time together to do something like this gives you both something unique and memorable to remember your wedding day, as well as spending some time alone to really soak up the day!
Wedding Reception at The Corinthian Grand
Guests were already enjoying the drinks reception when we made it back to the Doubletree Hilton’s The Corinthian Grand, ready for the wedding reception.
The Corinthian Grand historic Library Lounge was the perfect setting for a more intimate, smaller wedding breakfast.
I loved seeing her Grandad looking over the historical black and white photos of Liverpool and guests seemed to enjoy the elegant surroundings.
A Small and Intimate Wedding Breakfast
The meal was set up with a long banquet table. With nods to Ben’s Viking heritage in the table decor and styling details.
The flower girls fully embraced the old technology of their disposable cameras. Once a few of us (me included) helped them work out how to use them they were readily snapping away!
Formal speeches were swapped for more relaxed toasts to their guests before cutting their ‘cheese’ cake with a replica Viking axe!
Natural and Relaxed Liverpool Wedding Videography
Even small weddings can benefit from natural and relaxed wedding videography.
I know it can be a worry about it being too intrusive with a smaller guest list but it honestly doesn’t have to feel like that at all.
My skills lie in fooling your guests in to thinking I’m really nice and a good friend…kidding. Well, only a little.
I find my relaxed and discreet approach really lends itself to smaller weddings with close family and friends.
Capturing Real Moments, No Posing!
As you can see from Nat and Ben’s wedding in Liverpool, I captured all the candid moments and interactions and it feels more like a guests view on the day than a formal video!
I’d like to think (and I’ve been told before now) that they didn’t feel like they were being filmed at all 🙂
