Hopping over the border to Yorkshire is always worth it when you get to visit stunning countryside venues like Wharfedale Grange!
A luxury barn style wedding venue that’s still family run, it’s the perfect place to get married in style.
But what I may love more than the wood and all that natural light is THAT disco ball!
Here’s a wedding blog to share more from Courtney and Dan’s epic wedding day at Wharfedale Grange.
Wharfdale Grange Wedding Video
A Relaxed Wedding Morning
With the couple being so organised and hand picking a great team of wedding suppliers, it ensured their morning stayed super relaxed.
The Bride and her bridal party got ready within the grounds of Wharfedale Grange where the dress hung eagerly in the mirrored wardrobe and the 90’s classics played from the venue speakers.
The guys were getting ready over at The White Hart Hotel in Harrogate before heading over to the venue to meet all their guests.
Getting Ready For The Ceremony…
It always starts relaxed but then there’s soon a buzz of excitement when it’s time for everyone to get ready.
What adds to that excitement is being able to see and hear the guests arriving below when you’re getting ready at Wharfedale Grange!
Guests were ushered to their seats as Courtney was helped in to her dress and the finishing touches were applied.
Colette Rafferty was on hand to ensure everyone’s hair was looking fabulous and the veil sat perfectly. Whilst Hannah Louise added the final touches to the make-up.
The First Look For An Emotional Dad…
One of the moments I LOVE filming, even after 13 years of being a wedding videographer, is that ‘first look’ with the parents.
This one didn’t disappoint as her Dad has to take a few deep breathes as his Daughter glided down the barn steps.
Everyone in place, it was time to walk down the aisle in front of all those fairy lights and say ‘I Do’!

Romantic Barn Ceremony At Wharfedale Grange
It’s always tricky with mixed lighting during ceremonies but there’s no denying the twinkling fairy light wall in the South Barn at Wharfedale Grange looks super romantic!
I love how the light reflects off the stone flooring when I filmed from the back of the ceremony room!
During the ceremony Courtney had to take a few deep breaths as the emotions bubbled up.
A couple of lovely readings followed by their vows and wedding rings soon meant they were announced as Husband and Wife!
It was then time to dance back down the aisle and out in to the courtyard to be showered in confetti!
Drinks Reception and Candid Portraits
As the sun was trying to break through, guests enjoyed drinks and canapes out on the courtyard and the newlyweds mingled.
It was then time for Zoe and Tom from About Today Photography to arrange the group portraits and family shots.
It’s always fun to video this part and it rarely runs smoothly. Lots of shouting for missing family members and trying to decide where to stand…
Zoe and Tom made light work of it anyway and it was soon on to sneaking the couple off in to the gardens at Wharfedale Grange for some posed yet natural couple moments…

Natural Wedding Videography in Yorkshire
Obviously I’m there to capture all the important parts, like the vows and your wedding speeches.
But I know, even if you don’t yet, that those little in-between moments will be the ones you fall in love with the most when you get to watch it back.
The little connections, glances and moments between you and your guests that only happen when you’re relaxed and not really thinking about being filmed.
It comes with experience. Filming weddings since 2010 means I’ve had the pleasure of observing people at weddings for YEARS and it’s one of my favourite things.
Wedding Speeches at Wharfedale Grange
The main barn is such an incredible space for your wedding reception, the perfect setting for your wedding speeches too!
We’d been given the heads up on a couple of planned jokes (which is always nice so we know where to film!) and they went down well!
As well as the traditional wedding speeches, the Maid’s of Honour shared a few fun stories about the Bride too!
After lots of tears and hugs, it was time to make their way outside to enjoy the garden games and mini golf on the lawns. Just as the sun came out!

Nearly A Cake Cut Without The Groom…
I didn’t ask where Dan has snuck off to but it took him SO long to come for the cake cutting that even the band had ran out of music ideas to play.
Whilst everyone waited I couldn’t help but film Courtney standing with the cake knife on her own. It felt like FOREVER and I just know it’ll make some funny bloopers for their ‘Outtakes’ video!
A First Dance With Confetti Surprise!
When Dan finally arrived to help with the tradition of cutting the wedding cake, it was then on to the dancing.
They went for a fabulous song by The Proclaimers called Life With You and looked like they had fun spinning around the dancefloor.
What made it extra special was their band The Ragamuffin’s performing it live. And when the trumpet kicked in, so did the confetti canons!

What Did You Love About Couteny and Dan’s Wedding?
If you’re lucky enough to be at this awesome couple then let them know! I’m sure they’d love to know you’ve taken the time to read this blog and watch their video. I have too many things I love about their day so I bet you have too!
What did you think? Want to do it all over again? I do!
