A Wet Winter Wedding at The Out Barn
The Out Barn in Lancashire was the perfect countryside hideaway setting for Britt and Mike’s December wedding. What more could you want from a festive winter wedding than cosy fires, warm mulled wine and sparkly Christmas trees?
Despite being someone who really feels the cold, I ADORE Winter weddings. Filming in the low Winter light, the moody clouds and that cosy dark atmosphere is a real joy as a wedding videographer.
If you’re planning a cosy Winter wedding in Lancashire, Cheshire or beyond and looking for some inspiration (or even a wedding videographer) then you’ve come to the right place!
A Festive Winter Wedding at The Out Barn, Lancashire – Wedding Video Highlights
Relaxed Wedding Morning at The Out Barn Cottages
The morning started with the Bride in the dressing room cabin, getting ready with her Maid of Honour and Mum. Hair and make-up was well underway when I arrived early to the sun peeking through the heavy clouds.
Our Groom Mike was also on site in the cottages down the winding lane.

Capturing Both Sides Of The Wedding Morning With Two Videographers
As there are two videographers capturing the day, we’re able to document both mornings for you to look back on! It’s something a lot of couples don’t feel they need but is always one of the Highlights to watch back as you’re seeing how you both were as the nerves and excitement builds!

A Cosy, Stylish Winter Wedding Aesthetic
Auntie Paula was brought in to help decorate the beautiful ceremony space at The Out Barn. The huge Christmas trees were the main feature so they kept it subtle with greenery and candles, it looked lovely. As guests began to arrive and shake off the drizzle that had started, the excitement built up for the couple as they began to get ready!
The Groom opted for a deep green velvet Tuxedo jacket and bow tie, the Bride opting for a stunning full sleeved backless gown (with a feathery sparkly number for the evening too!). I spied lots of gorgeous faux fur coats and festive sparkle, it really helped create the perfect Winter wedding vibe.
Mike was being super organised (and likely distracting himself from the nerves) considering where guests should sit to ensure they are captured in the photos and video. This is always a lovely part for the partner that arrives first as they get to chat to the guests before the formal bits take over!
The rain became heavier as Britt had the finishing touches to her hair and make-up before getting helped into her wedding dress. Nan, Dad and her Brother arrived just in time to see the finished look and there was just enough time for a drink and some music before seeing the registrars.
An Emotional Wedding Ceremony in The Out Barn’s Beautiful Ceremony Space
Guests took their seats in the ceremony room as Archie Music sang gently in the corner. With a few extra hands (and umbrellas), Britt was helped across to the barn eager to get married to Mike! Archie sang her down the aisle to a Beatles track and we managed to capture lots of tears from our Groom when he saw her for the first time.
Personal vows making the guests tear up were followed by a handshake to seal the deal!
Tears continued as both their readers got emotional, including her Brother who said some really lovely things about them both and ‘the big Brother he never had’ in Mike. After exchanging wedding rings it was time to dance back down the aisle and enjoy the cosy bar area of The Out Barn with mulled wine and canapes!

The Out Barn Lancashire – A Dream Wedding Venue to Film At!
The Out Barn is a stunning Lancashire wedding venue for couples who want a relaxed countryside setting without anything feeling stiff or formal. With its cosy fires, light-filled ceremony barn, surrounding fields and on-site cottages, it’s the kind of place that works beautifully in any season but especially for winter weddings where atmosphere really matters.
As a wedding videographer, it’s a dream to film at The Out Barn because everything flows naturally and there are so many warm, intimate spaces for real moments to unfold. The team are also attentive and friendly too!
Making the Most of Rainy Wedding Days at The Out Barn
The rain was relentless so Anna Wood (good friend of mine and talented photographer) figured out some clever space by the log burner to capture a few couple portraits and family group shots whilst guests mingled. As well as canapes and Archie serenading the guests, they also got to enjoy a game of ‘guess the First Dance song’ which is a trend I’m loving right now.

Festive Wedding Breakfast & Speeches by the Christmas Trees
With the main room now turned around, it was time for guests to take their seats for the wedding breakfast. The couple were announced in to the room to rapturous applause and cheers (always fun to film!) and it was time to enjoy their meal.
Speeches the followed after the meal with the sparkling Christmas trees as the backdrop. They were the perfect blend of funny, personal and emotional as guests enjoyed laughing and crying along.

Snowfetti, Laughter & Embracing the Weather
With everyone’s spirits high, guests enjoyed drinks by the roaring fire and special cocktails (named after the couples dog Hazel!) before we decided on a crazy idea. Britt and Mike were up for anything as a couple and despite the rain decided they would LOVE to make use of their ‘snowfetti’. We thought there was a gap in the pouring rain so any guests willing to brave the cold winter air made their way outside with handfuls of snowfetti…just in time for the rain to start again!! But the couple didn’t give it, they went for it and it made for some really fun and memorable moments together (and looked amazing on the video!)
This is exactly the kind of day I love to film as a wedding videographer! Couples who trust the process, embrace the weather, and care more about how their day feels than everything being perfectly polished.

A Laid-Back Evening Party at The Out Barn
The winner of the ‘First Dance’ game was announced and it was time to cut the cake and take to the floor as Husband and Wife. After lots of fabulous spins and dips with huge smiles on their faces, guests were invited to join them on the dancefloor and to get the party started! Out came the glow sticks, the funky glasses and THAT sparkly evening dress!
