What’s not to love about this Cheshire Woodland’s wedding?
Flower crown, flower girls in tulle tutu’s, the most amazing friendship groups, a relaxed ceremony in the woodland and some pretty amazing outdoor activities for the guests (including a personal favourite, archery).
It had all the fun yet relaxed wedding vibes in the heart of Cheshire!
This was my first ‘full day’ wedding since Sept 2019 (thanks for that global pandemic) and what a wedding to throw myself in to as a wedding videographer…
Sarah and Alex had plans of a big wedding at their family farm in Dunham Massey but like many couples, the pandemic and the uncertainty within the wedding industry got them rethinking their plans so they could enjoy their wedding day, however that may look.
From Country Farm to Woodland Wedding – An Outdoor Wedding It Is!
I was SO excited to hear they were ready to embrace the smaller numbers and they actually moved their wedding FORWARD to celebrate with their close family and friends at Cheshire Woodland Weddings near Delamere Forest.
I’ve not had the pleasure of filming a wedding at Cheshire Woodland Weddings, or even outside in the woods, so I couldn’t wait to capture it!
The tone for the day was set early on when I arrived to the Bridal party enjoying bubbles and make-up chat in the sunshine with Taylor Swift playing in the background.
It was all so wonderfully laid back and happy, the best start to any wedding day!
A Wooly Woodland Wedding Video – Cheshire Videography

A Fun and Relaxed Wedding Morning in Cheshire
Soon guests were arriving to see Sarah in her dress before leaving for her woodland wedding ceremony.
Her stunning tulle dress with flower details was perfect for an outdoor wedding in the woods. She added a dried flower crown and flower pins in her softly curled hair, as well as her ‘something blue’ with her shoes.
I waited outside to capture the big reveal as she stepped out in to the sunshine to wow her bridal party (and start the tears with the bridesmaids!).
As a wedding videographer it’s these moments I LOVE filming because it’s something we missed on our wedding day.
Remembering those excited nerves and seeing all those you love being so happy for you is something that can easily fade without the help of a video!
It was then time for chauffeur Dad to add ribbons to their family campervan to get the Bride to her ceremony on time…

An Outdoor Ceremony at Cheshire Woodland Weddings
Cheshire Woodland Weddings near Nantwich is a unique and relaxed wedding ‘venue’ in the heart of Cheshire.
Sarah, Alex and their guests could enjoy all the benefits of enjoying nature and the great outdoors. Not only a beautiful setting for an outdoor ceremony beneath the trees but also the fun of outdoor activities like Archery, Segways and mini golf!
The ceremony was beautiful. In the dappled shade of the woodlands and guests perched on carved benches it felt really magical as they said their I Do’s!

Outdoor Wedding Activities and A Special Guest (Nessie, their dog!)
As well as the human’s enjoying the outdoor wedding setting, Nessie (their gorgeous dog) got to wear her tulle bow and flowers to attend her own human’s wedding! Not just to pop in but she got to spend the whole wedding day with them!
Once announced Mr and Mrs Woolam, all the guests got to enjoy the outdoor activities on offer!
This was brilliant to film as I got to witness lots of people learning something new for the first time (and doing it in heels or attire you wouldn’t normally wear to enjoy games in the woods!).

Unique and Relaxed Wedding Reception in Cheshire
Darren, the amazing wedding co-ordinator from Cheshire Woodland Weddings, started rounding up the guests ready to be seated in the barn for the official reception.
We got to enjoy 5 minutes with the couple in the woods to capture some lovely moments with just the two of them.
I always encourage even the camera shy couples to embrace this moment.
Not only to ensure you have a few photos of just the two of you but it’s also the perfect opportunity to press ‘pause’ on the day and take a breather from all the excitement!
Cheshire Woodland Weddings, Natural Wedding Videography
For me, it’s not about the posing. I’ll leave that to their wedding photographer!
For me as the videographer, it’s all about capturing the in-between moments.
Sneaking in a kiss, or having a giggle between posing…there the moments that will look and feel more natural to you as your watch your wedding video back!

Informal and Relaxed Wedding Reception in Cheshire
The barn at Cheshire Woodland Weddings has the perfect outdoor, rustic vibes. Despite being so tall it still gave all the cosy vibes for this smaller wedding.
Giant ‘LOVE’ letters hung behind the couple as they made their way to their seats as guests cheered.
No formal wedding speeches were planned but the two Dad’s took time to stand and say a few words, as well as toast the newlyweds.
A tasty buffet allowed guests to choose what they fancied before enjoying a really relaxed and informal wedding breakfast in the barn.
All this followed by toasted marshmallows over the fire pits (which made for some fun video footage) and a very over excited confetti walk through the willow arch.

A First Dance Outside In The Woods
In my 11 years of filming weddings around the North West and the rest of the UK this is a first for me. A beautifully romantic first dance under the woodland trees and festoon lights.
It had a few of the guests wiping away emotional tears and I think the setting in the woods really helped the romantic vibes!
Cheshire Woodland Weddings – Outdoor Wedding Venue
I can see why Cheshire Woodland Weddings is one of the top outdoor wedding venues in the North West. Not only is the setting stunning, they really help couples embrace the outdoors and enjoy their stunning woodland surroundings, whatever the weather.
I do realise the sunny day helped here but it did try to rain and it didn’t stop anyone enjoying the celebrations outdoors!
