Some weddings are unforgettable for the love stories, others for the laughs. But Vicki and Daz’s wedding at The Moorlands Inn over in Halifax had both in abundance! Plus a surprise guest straight from Las Vegas… a personalised wedding newspaper for the couple After tying the knot officially in the States, Vicki and Daz brought their celebration home to Yorkshire. The Moorlands Inn, a country pub and marquee perched on Keighley Road in Halifax, was the perfect backdrop for their UK celebration. Combining panoramic Pennine views with a relaxed, down-to-earth vibe that suited the couple perfectly. The weather was very typical of the North, with crazy wind and rain one moment and bright sunshine and rainbows the next. It definitely kept myself (the videographer) and their photographer on our toes trying to plan what we shot and when! If you love the idea of having a videographer who can capture the love AND the fun from your wedding, I feel this wedding may be the one to help you see how amazing having a video of your wedding could be…

A Windy Wedding Morning in Halifax

The Bridal party enjoyed the home away from home that was St Paul’s B&B, where the hosts treat you like family! Hair by Mary Kay had already started when I arrived so I got the cameras out and captured their relaxed wedding morning. I got to work alongside Matt (https://mattdeanphotography.co.uk/) who was more familiar with the area but also a really great photographer to tag team with on the day! The guys were equally chilled over Windmill Court, just down the road. They were soon all ready in their 3 piece suits and heading to The Moorlands Inn in the wedding car. a groom tries to figure out his button hole family and bridesmaids react to the brides first look in Halifax a videographer films the bridal party posing in sunglasses

A Personal Wedding Celebration at The Moorlands Inn

From the moment guests arrived, the day felt full of joy and character and personality! Vicki and Daz’s love story had already taken them working together and travelling the world to flying across the Atlantic, and they brought that Vegas magic right back with them (quite literally, keep reading for more). Their Celebrant ceremony had everyone smiling along as they listening to the personal tales of how they met and what led them to that moment. Along with a beautiful hand-fasting ceremony using tartan from their Gretna Green engagement. Hannah from Your Three Days led the beautifully personal ceremony and I heard guests gushing about how lovely it was all day! If you want a more personal touch to your wedding ceremony, I’d highly recommend hiring a Celebrant like Hannah! a bridesmaid and flowergirl walk down the aisle at The Moorlands Inn Halifax a mum hands the brides mum a tissue during the emotional wedding ceremony at The Moorlands Inn Halifax a bride walks down the aisle with her dad a candid moment captured during the celebrant wedding ceremony at The Moorlands Inn Halifax the couple laugh during a reading at The Moorlands Inn Halifax a couple exchange rings during a ceremony at The Moorlands Inn Halifax a videographer captures a hand fasting ceremony the couple kiss during ceremony at The Moorlands Inn Halifax

From Vegas To Halifax…

So I bet you were wondering what that Vegas magic was? Well, thankfully we were in on the secret planned during the wedding speeches and I was able to capture the big reveal! Vegas really did come to Yorkshire, thanks to a surprise performance by an Elvis impersonator! It was a brilliant moment that had guests laughing, dancing, and singing along, and brought a real “only at their wedding” kind of energy to the day. I love that it was a real nod not only to their Vegas wedding but their mutual love of Elvis Presley!

A Relaxed Countryside Reception at The Moorlands

Inside the Moorlands’ charming function space, the decor leaned into a simple yet personal vibe with lots of little Elvis and Vegas details. You could tell every guest was fully invested in celebrating with Vicki and Daz, from the cheers during the speeches to the enthusiastic singing and dancing with Elvis. No half measures, just genuine connection and good fun. As a wedding videographer I found it a pleasure filming for the first time at The Moorlands Inn. The views alone make for stunning footage (and amazing rainbows if you get one!), and the staff are consistently warm and welcoming, helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes. Plus, there’s nothing quite like capturing a bride and groom who are totally themselves! Relaxed, smiling, and soaking up every second of their day and that’s down to the team around them as much as their friends and family! a fun video still of the couple walking down the confetti aisle outside The Moorlands Inn Halifax a video still of a couple showered in green and white confetti a videographer captures the guests reaction to the couple coming into the reception father of the bride speech at The Moorlands Inn Halifax a best man speech at The Moorlands Inn Halifax the family toast their dad who couldn't be there the top table sing along with an Elvis impersonator at The Moorlands Inn Halifax guests laugh with Elvis during a wedding

Dancing The Night Away

Vicki and Daz had one final surprise up their sleeve and it was a fun ‘mix tape’ style first dance which had everyone clapping along! I LOVE filming couples being themselves and having a laugh, and this was one of those moments! the couple dance to Elvis the coverup band interact with kids on the dancefloor Guests soon joined them on the floor, glowsticks in hand, to dance to the epic tunes performed by The Cover Up band. Vicki and Daz, thank you for letting me be a part of your incredible day. Wishing you a lifetime of love, laughter, and plenty more spontaneous Elvis moments.
