I first met Maria and Scott on their wonderfully romantic engagement shoot near Swindon back in August. I had the pleasure of tagging alongside Evie from Chapter Photography and seeing her at work. She did an amazing job of capturing some really lovely images, but also making Maria and Scott feel comfortable in front of the camera (you can have a look at the e-shoot by clicking here). We just knew it was going to be a fun wedding and couldn’t wait for the big day!

We made sure we were up bright and early, ready for the busy day ahead. I could not believe the weather for a September Cardiff wedding but thankfully came prepared with sun cream and an alternative to my wool Autumn/ Winter dress! As we were working with our favourite photography team we bounced our ideas off each other over breakfast and then I headed off to Maria’s with Evie while my second cameraman, Scott, headed off with Jamie to film the boys. It’s always lovely capturing both the Bride and Grooms mornings as it’s something they wouldn’t normally get to see. Even I find it entertaining watching through the rushes captured and love editing it together in the Highlights and Feature. It’s always nice to capture the little details before they are put together, like the stunning Sophia Tolli dress Maria was to wear!

The nerves never really seemed to set in, it was more like anticipation and excitement for what lay ahead. The morning went so quickly and before we knew it we were caught up in the excitement of the Bridal parties arrival at St Joseph’s Church, Penarth and watching Maria walk down the aisle towards and very happy Scott!

Then the fun really did begin as Evie had a really amazing shoot planned down at the local pier and pebble beach. Maria and Scott were game for anything and posed like a couple of pro’s!

We arrived at St David’s Hotel in the picturesque Cardiff bay where the guests were enjoying the wonderful hotel surroundings. Every wedding has the celebratory ‘Mr and Mrs’ entrance ready for the wedding breakfast but this time Maria had something special planned to surprise her American football playing Husband…

The speeches went down a treat with full on belly laughs from the tables near me!

I knew from their playlist that their evening entertainment would be great and I wasn’t disappointed. From the Kings of Leon first dance to the indie band, everything oozed cool!

Oh, and not forgetting the evening shoot on the rocks outside the hotel…

Images are a lovely way of painting a picture but watching their highlights will really make the day come back to life. I’ve been waiting to use this song for ages and Maria and Scott were made for this…
